Why Senior Photos Are Important

Students today have lived with technology more than any other generation before them and from the looks of their Instagram feed and their selfies, you can see they are taking full advantage! Their selfies are beautifully taken thanks to the advances of the iphone cameras and practicing their skills with friends non-stop basically makes them a pro at posing in front of a camera! BUT, this doesn’t mean that there isn’t a need for a professional photo. This means that they will have gorgeous SENIOR PHOTOS when they schedule them!!

Things like college applications, graduation announcements, etc. show friends, family, and potential prospects that you are serious about your future and a selfie is just not that type of photo they are looking for. It doesn’t have to be a stuffy formal photo…it can still be fun and show your personality! But it’s not usually something you can get from a selfie.

Senior photos are a kind of rite of passage. Your senior year is full of milestones that I’m sure you are documenting all year long. But you might also be thinking about the transition for a lot of students from living with your parents to moving into college with a roommate. It’s a transition into being a legal adult.

It’s a time when you are leaving behind a lot of the friends that you have grown up with and moving on to find new friends and new adventures, figuring out what you want to do with your life and who you want to be. Your senior photos are a way to express all of that! To show who you are before all of these big changes in your life happen.

Senior Portraits are a lot different than when our parents were in school! You don’t have to go to a stuffy studio (although my studio is pretty amazing…if I do say so myself 😉), you can choose your location.

AND you can choose to express your style in a way that makes you comfortable and happy. You can express yourself with your interests and incorporate all of your favorite things into your session to commemorate who you are at this point in your life! You can include your college or the things you will be doing after high school as well!

This session was taken in Telluride, CO. Stefan will be graduating this year and is planning to attend University of Michigan. He chose mountain views for the background of his photos and I think they turned out pretty awesome!
