So, you’ve been dreaming about your Senior portrait session with Candace Miller Photography since you were a Freshman, right? Ok, maybe not that dramatic, BUT I’m sure you have thought a little bit about your Senior photos because you have to put them in the yearbook, maybe send out announcements, send a photo to family and friends, and your parents will want to remember just how beautiful/handsome you are right at this moment. I know I’m not wrong about those last things. Today we are going to talk about the session essentials!

You will want to think about bringing a few different outfits with you to your session. You don’t have to change your style…and honestly I would prefer that you DON’T. These photos tell the story of who you are, so let’s keep the outfits in your personal taste. But, I would suggest that you bring a couple of different things to choose from in case you aren’t really loving the way the location is jiving with your outfit, or you aren’t feeling super comfortable in what you chose to wear.

Always be sure to bring some accessories, such as hats, belts, jewelry, scarves, jackets, sunglasses, etc. These things can add a much needed punch of color or an accent to your outfit and really give it that wow factor that we are going for. This category applies to guys too, not just the ladies! If you don’t really have anything that you love, you can always grab something from my style closet if you see something you want to try.

Believe it or not, shoes can make or break a photo. When we are doing a full length shot and you forget to bring your nice looking boots or something other than sneakers, it can throw the balance off for the whole photo. So PLEASE be aware of what shoes you will need to wear for each outfit.

Hair and makeup is available if you would like that service to be provided. However, it’s always a good idea to bring a hair brush, some lipstick (or chapstick), a small can of hairspray, a small hand mirror, hair ties/clips, and maybe some makeup wipes (or baby wipes). You never know when you will want to do a touchup or if you will want to change your hair on-location. We could end up with more wind than anticipated or static or…you just never know. So all of these things are good to have, just in case.

We will talk about your clothing choices at your pre-consultation when we also discuss your locations, so please don’t get overwhelmed. You will also be able to text me photos of your clothing choices and we can discuss in detail anything you have questions about. Your session will be planned out well before it happens so we will all be on the same page. And if you forget something…there’s a good chance I’ll have it on me 😉 So when you’re ready to schedule that pre-consultation, just click this link! I can’t wait to get this party started!

Thanks, Sara! I try to keep things simple so there isn’t a lot for everyone to remember. Photos don’t have to be complicated.
