Senior Guys! How To Prep For Your Session

There is tons of information out there for senior girls. Every where I look I find tips for senior girls and what they should wear, and how to do their hair and how to prepare for the Senior Photo Session. Well this post is for the fellas! Senior guys and Senior guy MOMS, pay attention to this one because this one is all about how to prep for your session!

First of all, make sure you are taking care of your skin. You should already have a daily skin routine in place but if you don’t, start with a sensitive skin face wash and a super light weight moisturize (unscented and sensitive skin friendly) at least a month…probably more before you session. This should be morning and night routine. But hey, if you have a breakout the day before you session, don’t worry too much. I’ll take care of it. But everybody wants great skin right!?

Next, make sure your hair is trimmed nice and neat at least 2 weeks before your session. This gives your hair time to grow back in a little so you can’t tell it was just cut. Again, just a trim. Don’t do anything drastic. No fancy colors or changes…you won’t look like yourself and it will be too much of an adjustment when looking at the photos.

Third, start planning your outfits. Make sure that you put everything together to see if you like how it looks. Lay it all out on the bed (including shoes, belt, tie if necessary) and then put everything on one hanger. This makes it easier for you to grab the outfit and know that you have everything. Do this with ALL of your outfit changes. Make sure your shoes are appropriate for each outfit. You have a matching belt and tie if necessary for each. These are the things that are most often forgotten so double check to make sure they are with your outfit! If you’re not planning to wear a tie, great…don’t bring it. If you are planning to wear a shirt tucked in…you need a belt.

Your photos will go all the way to your feet! Your shoes matter. They can make or break the photo. Make sure you have the right shoes for each outfit…I can not stress this enough!!

The Day Of The Session

The things above are all things to plan in the months/weeks leading up to your session. This section will be what you need to do the DAY of your session…

Make sure you shave. I can work magic but a clean shave is something that needs to happen on your time, friend.
Iron your clothes. I know, I hate it too. But sometimes those wrinkles just don’t want to disappear.
Wash your face, brush your teeth, style your hair. I know it may sound like I’m talking to a toddler but you would be surprised…
Grab accessories! Watches, sunglasses, hats, scarves, belts, shoes, etc. These can make great props for your photos.
If you want photos with your car/truck, make sure it is clean. WASH IT!! Make it shine.
Make sure your undershirts have NO graphics on them. An undershirt can sometimes be seen through a button down shirt.
